Problem Statement
COVID-19 infections are increasing at an exponential rate in the United States. https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html We don't have enough masks in our community to protect doctors and ourselves during this crisis. By sewing masks, we are spreading the message that face masks are essential tools to protect ourselves and others.
Who we are
Most of our volunteers in our sewing program are from the Chinese American community. Our virtual sewing team is led by sewing experts and material scientists who are researching the best mask materials and models, and our sewing experts are training the beginners to expand our volunteer base.
Why we need YOUR support
Our sewing machines are running! We have a group of standby volunteers eager to keep sewing, but we need materials to provide more high-quality masks. With your support, we will be able to cover the costs of purchasing high quality fabric, elastic, and filter materials. We continue to research more advanced filter materials to make the handmade masks better.
Who the masks will help
We currently sew cotton surgical masks to support 2nd line medical organizations, and we hope to reach out to long term care centers, children's hospitals, and address local community needs in the future. Together, we will win the battle against the virus and bring safety and health back to our community!
