West Malling’s Christmas Lights

Light up Local.
2020 has been a year, to say the least. But what these unprecedented times have shown us is our community spirit. That’s not to be cliche, we have truly seen, day in day out, the people of the town and surrounding areas supporting each other and our high street.
West Malling is one of the last towns of its kind. Filled to the brim with independent businesses and a community turning out time and time again to support them.
Sadly, the Christmas lights had been cancelled this year. Each year, the lights are funded by local businesses and a switch on event, which unfortunately hasn’t been possible due to Covid.
But, we’re hoping to change this. We need your help to raise £10k to illuminate the high street.
It won’t be exactly what you’re used to in the lead up, as we will be unable to host an event, but with this money we will be able to fund the lights in time for Christmas.
So this message goes out to those of you living and working in and around the town. It’s time to show up and turn out (virtually) for the community one last time this 2020, to bring the light back in time for Christmas.
*We know £10k may sound like a lot, but the Chamber of Commerce has been in the process of purchasing new lights for the town. The money also goes towards the installation, upkeep and maintenance of the lights whilst they are up.
Any money we raise over and above this, will be used to reinvest into the Chamber of Commerce and next year’s Christmas in the town.
