Teamwork. Dedication. Perseverance. These are just some of the characteristics that define a rower. These same traits are central to the strong community built through rowing, a community that lasts a lifetime. It’s why the West Side Rowing Club is worth supporting so that it can be shared with others for years to come.

This year, we saw the immense impact rowing had on ALL ages and demographics – from the continued growth of our year-round middle school programming to the success of our scholastic and collegiate teams on the racecourse. We also saw continued expansion of our adult programming, welcoming former and novice rowers into our Summer, Fall, and Senior/Masters Rowing programs. Rowing continues to offer an outlet for students and provides lifelong skills only obtained through cooperation, discipline, and hard work. It is up to supporters like you to help continue to provide resources the program needs to realize this impact.

We also saw a surge of support for our community engagement programs this year that allowed us to sponsor over 200 youth rowers in from across greater Buffalo. In addition, we continue to work with our military veteran community in Western New York to build out our USRowing Freedom Rows Program. West Side continues to strive to work with public partners to grow our summer Crew Camp program, expanding access to our year-round programs for youth participants in new school districts.

All donations received through this campaign will go directly towards supporting boathouse operations (new launches and engines) and will provide much needed upgrades (new erg bikes, sculling and weight equipment) to ensure that West Side is able to support all 2024 programming. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to help defray the cost of these capital and facilities improvements.

Like many non-profits, West Side Rowing Club relies heavily on philanthropic support from its alumni and friends to efficiently operate. As someone who is an invested member of Buffalo’s rowing community, we ask you to consider donating to West Side during Giving Tuesday on November 29th to help sustain services, programming, and boathouse maintenance throughout the next year and beyond. More importantly, your donation and continued support will provide access to a sport and community whose impact lasts a lifetime for young rowers in Western New York.

The West Side Rowing Club is a non-profit organization run by volunteers whose purpose is the advancement of the physical, mental, and moral well being of the youth of the City of Buffalo, New York and surrounding communities by education, training, instruction, and participation in the art of rowing and other athletic pursuits.
