Westleys fight against Glioblastoma stage 4

 

 

 

 

Westley Blakeway, a 30-year-old married father of 3 from Paulton is suffering with an aggressive strain of brain tumour called a Grade 4 Glioblastoma. 

 

After suffering headaches and blurred vision, a GP referral to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for an eye examination in November 2021, followed by scans at Bristol’s Southmead Hospital, resulted in the diagnosis of a Grade 3 tumour.

 

In December 2021 Wes had surgery where 80% of the tumour was successfully removed.  However, further testing revealed the tumour to be an extremely aggressive Grade 4 Glioblastoma.  Wes and his family were given this devastating news just a few days before Christmas and a week after his 7th Wedding Anniversary to wife Elize.



 



As always Wes remains positive but in January 2022 will embark on intensive Chemotherapy.

 
Born in South Africa, Wes moved to Bristol in 2018 and works as an overhead and underground cabling engineer for Bristol based company Alpha Communications (@alphacomltd) where he excels as a diligent, committed and popular member of the team working on projects with internet provider TrueSpeed (@truespeed). 

 Never in a million years did we think we would be setting up this page to help such a young man and his family.  His mother and father Daren and Sandra, sister Sylvia and his wife Elize and their children Paul, Jaylin and Gracelyn.  Gracelyn is not yet 1 year old.  In just 2 short months, this family’s world has been turned upside down. 

 
But his family and friends are asking for support for Wes and his young family at this extremely difficult time.
