Weston Stamps WILL Walk Again
Donation protected
On December 23rd my nephew Weston was on his way to work when his tires went off the road, he hit a culvert pipe and went airborne, flipping the truck. He knew immediately his back was broke... this was a life altering accident.
My brother Eric Stamps was on duty and responded to the accident, helping extricate his son from the vehicle.
Wes was sent to St Vincent's Trauma Center where he underwent an emergency thoracotomy to stabilize his spinal cord as his L1 disc had shattered into 10 pieces. They put in a rod and cage and a chest tube and told us to focus on his surgical recovery and they were unsure he would walk again.
He has been inpatient at the Frazier Spinal Cord Institute in Louisville undergoing therapy, and training to care for himself.
BUT he is ALIVE, he is STRONG and he is DETERMINED that he WILL walk again, and we have no doubt he will!
He was discharged yesterday to the Ronald McDonald House BECAUSE he is a fighter and he is doing MUCH better than they thought possible! He will begin intensive outpatient therapy Monday.
Eric, Jana and Weston will live at the Ronald McDonald House for the next 1-2 months depending on his progress.
Life has changed, but he will overcome this with time... we were told a year for his spinal cord to heal. He has sensation and movement in his right leg to almost the ankle and to below his knee on the left. He moved his feet with electrical stimulation ❤.
My family is strong and proud and would NEVER ask for help.... But the outpouring of love and people wanting to help my Wes and Eric and Jana has been overwhelming. I was asked by my extended family and friends to start a Go Fund Me to help and so I am.
A Huge THANK YOU to everyone that has already helped in so many ways, this has meant more to us than anyone will ever know...
Any help through this account will go towards this year of treatment, therapy and adjustments that Wes needs as he works hard and DOES WALK AGAIN ❤
Thank You!
