Weston's bike fund
Donation protected
My son, Weston Mejia, is 4 years old and lives with Angelman Syndrome (AS) in Michigan. In July of 2021, after extensive tests, Weston got the diagnosis of Angelman Syndrome. AS has many different symptoms like speech problems (Weston is completely non-verbal), balance issues (Weston can walk while holding someone's hand), severe developmental delays, seizures (Weston has been lucky enough to not have any seizures yet, although 80% of people with AS develop epilepsy), and sleep issues (Weston is on a high dose of trazodone and has a specialty bed). But with all of those negatives comes the positives of AS, the pure joy. People with AS have a happy demeanor and a smile/laugh that is contagious. Weston currently gets taken to speech, physical, feeding, occupational and ABA therapy weekly, goes to preschool and loves playing with his big brother who is his absolute biggest fan. Weston got introduced to the freedom bike at a specialty therapy, he had an absolute blast on it and would laugh and smile the whole time he was riding. I wish I could get a freedom bike on my own but unfortunately as a single mother, it is just not in the budget. I would love to see Weston ride along side of his brother and all the other neighbor kids this summer. Thank you for your donation and I hope his contagious smile brightened your day today as it does mine daily.
