Weston's Journey - Please Help
Donation protected
- Hi, this is Maggie of Andy and Maggie. Andy was driving onto the Sawgrass Expressway and saw this helpless little thing laying in the road. No one else stopped. Cars were whizzing by. He picked up this injured little nugget and called me from the car. Our regular vet was closed for the holiday. I told him to head over yo LeadER Animal Hospital and I'd call ahead so they'd know there was injured incoming. The team at LeadER got him stabilized, did preliminary blood work and X-rays and triaged our little man. He's in rough shape. He has an open fracture of one leg and a second fracture as well. Most of the skin around his rectum is gone (vet thinks he was dragged by a car tire) and they will need to do multiple surgeries on this injury. Additionally. His tail is in rough shape and time will tell if it is dead and in need of amputation. We had no idea what we were getting into, but will give this little man we've named Weston every chance to survive and flourish. If you are able to help with the extraordinary veterinary expenses, we'd be grateful. No matter what, though, we will see little Weston through and give progress updates. Thanks everyone!
- Our latest update came today, July 10th. Weston has already had one open leg fracture operation and a second broken leg set. His tail has gone cold, so it is dying and the veterinary surgeon took him into surgery this afternoon to amputate his tail. The pieces of live skin in the area of his rectum have abscessed, so the surgical team restitched the area. They expect it may abscess again, but we won't know. It's just that this is common with this type of wound. So we have increased the GoFundMe goal to better reflect our expenses for this sweet kitten. Our thanks to everyone who has written to ask how Weston is doing, asked for updates and photos and of course, those who have so kindly donated to his veterinary care. Thank you all!! XO
