We've lost a great one, support Lenny's family

Hi, my name is Kim Flaherty and I am fundraising for my life long friend Kim Hellebuyck and her children Griffin and Logan.

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that our dear friend, brother, father, and husband Lenny Hellebuyck passed away unexpectedly on March 28, 2024. Lenny and Kim met at the Stained Glass Pub in Wheaton, MD in 1989 and married in 1997.

Lenny was working through some recent health challenges, and through it all, he remained dedicated to his career and family. In 2023, two surgeries kept him out of work for nearly three months, but he returned to work and put his heart and soul back into his business. He was proud of his successes, his work ethic was unmatched, and he has been such an inspiration to so many.

The outpouring of text messages and social media posts from friends, colleagues and former co-workers sharing memories and condolences have been incredibly touching and comforting for the family. Lenny has helped and inspired so many people that have crossed his path. He was the guy to light up the room with his smile, the friend to extend a helping hand, the boss who was a great coach and leader and the husband and father who always put his family first.

His abrupt and unexpected loss has shattered Kim as well as their children, Griffin and Logan.

As you can imagine, with this comes challenges ahead for the family as they find their new norm. Along with that also comes new financial hurdles including the cost of final arrangements as well as becoming a single income home. His wife Kim recently underwent surgery herself taking her out of work and adding to the growing family medical bills.

So many people have reached out wanting to help the family. Thank you for your kind and loving words and support. Anything you could contribute would be an incredible help to the family. I know we all want them to have the time they need to heal from their loss. Lifting a bit of stress from the very real financial burden would be a true blessing. Your generosity would mean the world to Lenny and his family.
