Shafer Family support Fund

The Shafer’s home has been hit 7 times by Drunk Drivers, 4 times in the last year alone.
The Shafer's are blessed to have not suffered an injury or death including their 2 dogs but they can no longer put their family in danger by staying in the home they loved.
Several requests have been sent to Kalamazoo Township and to County Road Commission to improve/stabilize the intersection that T’s into the Shafer’s Home. We have been told that the 5,000 pound boulders were the recommendation of the County Road Commission and they have been paying increased insurance premium payments. Clearly the boulders were not enough to protect the house. They decided for the safety of their three small children, that moving would be necessary. The house has been for sale and their Open House was scheduled on the day that the last accident occurred.
The fight is not over, the problem has not yet been resolved. There is the matter of whether or not the house will be repaired from the most recent accident. On top of that, they are still dealing with legal issues from the 6th driver who hit their house.
The Chance of selling this house is futile and they would not be comfortable with letting another family move in with the potential of more accidents.
What are they left with ‘Walk Away’ or ruin their credit and let the house go into foreclosure. We have made contact with the County and the Township and still no, resolution on their part. This family should not have to ruin their credit to get some sort of resolution! This is why we are asking for help.
The Shafer’s are currently in a safer location, but are still left with the debts and legal fees connected with the last two accidents and the mortgage for the home.
