David Bell - a friend, son, brother, uncle, and an incredible human being we can't imagine living without - died last night while canyoneering in the Sierra Nevadas. On their very last rappel, a friend of his, Jeannine, got caught in a whirlpool after landing in a pool of water. Another man, Peter, jumped in to try to save her, but they both became trapped. Without hesitation, David leaped in to save them-and in the end, all three of them drowned. David and Peter are both heroes. They pulled their bodies out within about seven minutes and immediately started CPR, trying everything for over 20 minutes, but none of them could be revived. The county sheriff is planning to helicopter their bodies out this morning. The pain is indescribable as we face this loss. Alma 40:11 "Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body, yea, the spirits of all men, whether they be good or evil, are taken home to that God who gave them life."
