National 3 Peaks Challenge for National Tremor Foundation
Hi I'm Kitty and I am the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the National Tremor Foundation. On June 13-15 this year I will be undertaking the National 3 Peaks Challenge to raise funds and awareness of the fantastic work the NTF do. I became involved with the NTF when my son was diagnosed with an Essential Tremor at the age of 5. I soon realised how little was known about neurological tremors and especially in children. It is believed that over 1 million people in the UK have an Essential Tremor and it is 8 to 10 times more prevalent than Parkinson Disease.
Here is a little bit about the NTF:
The National Tremor Foundation (or NTF as we are known) is an organisation where we aim to provide help, support and advice to all those living with all forms of tremor including ET, Orthostatic Tremor and Dystonia etc, irrespective of age.
The foundation is a charity dedicated to people with tremors – its mission is to provide advice, support, publish information and promote research.
The NTF was founded by Professor Leslie Findley (UK) and the late Professor William Koller (USA) in the two countries simultaneously in 1992. Subsequently, in 1994, the NTF became a separate registered charity in its own right (Charity No: 1042013).
Misguided beliefs and a lack of awareness mean that many people with this condition never seek medical care though most would benefit from treatment. The NTF dedicates this site to the thousands of people in the UK whose lives are affected by tremor.
Personally and on behalf of the NTF I/we would really welcome any contribution you are able to give for this challenge and the work of the NTF in supporting those living with a neurological tremor, by either contributing a small donation or spreading the word about the NTF ( see link below) and raising awareness of neurological tremors and the impact on peoples lives.
