Millie whippet's cancer battle fund

We are Jackie and Steven Klein. We live, with our three blue whippets, in a little village in Lincolnshire.

We need to raise funds to meet the vetinary bills for Millie, our 11 1/2 yr old whippet. We rescued her about 2 1/2 yrs ago from a life as a puppy making machine. When we got her she was a bag of skin and bone, little fur and a sad broken spirit....she was exhausted, used up ....spent. She had never known love, the softness of a good bed, the taste of good food, the joy of the open air whistling between her whiskers as she ran or the touch of a loving human hand. We have given her all of this and more. She has grown into the most wonderful, friendly, confident and loving hound we have ever met or had the honour of spending time with.

But, Millie has been diagnosed with 2nd stage Mast Cell Tumours, which to you and me is cancer.
She had an operation a week ago, to remove as much of the tumour as was safely possible, from what is known as the Perineum area ( ask your Mother ) . We now need to get her to an Oncologist to properly evaluate where she is at the moment and plan her treatment. The problem is that when we first took her on we were told she was 6yrs old. We subsequently found out she was 9 or so yrs old.....the insurance would have been £75 / month back then. We couldn't afford it. She is not insured.....but we could not let her go, she was meant to be with us.

We need to raise funds to pay for an appointment with the oncologist, any further operations to remove posible further tumours ( of which there are three lumps on her ) and ongoing medication. So far her bills have been about £450.

We need to raise the funds as quickly as posible. To give Millie the best chance of surviving as posible.

'Why bother with an old dog' ? you may ask ....'put her to sleep' you may say....but we owe this grand old lady a huge debt of gratitude for what she has brought into our home. We have watched her grow, mentally and physically, into the most loving, cheeky, funny, bed wrecking, warm spot pinching, bossy old hound, with her soulful eyes and quiet determined whimpers, that you could wish for. For all the bad she has suffered at the hands of cruel people, we owe it to her to give her the best we can in her later years. In short, we need to try everything and anything to do our best for her, after all she has gone through.

Please help us. If everybody only gave a pound each it would make a big difference to us and to one grey haired old whippet that deserves so much more time with us.... we need her in our life, we want her in our home, for as long as possible. It's what she deserves...
