Help Chester!
Hello everyone! Thank you for checking out this fundraiser. We’re attempting to raise money to get Chester the dog diagnosed, and most likely surgery. Unfortunately, this type of surgery is very pricey and in these weird times, money is extra tight, as you know. Raechel and Dave are wonderful people that have helped so many of us and it’s our turn to help them. Any donation amount is extremely appreciated and if all you can do is share this fundraiser, that is appreciated as well. Thank you for your time!
Chester had been having some problems so he went to the vet and got some blood work. It turns out he might have a parathyroid tumor. Thankfully parathyroid cancer is usually benign, but needs to be taken care of either way. The vet isn’t totally positive about the diagnosis andChester has already received an ultrasound, but it was inconclusive since the parathyroid is located deep within the neck. He now needs to see an endocrinologist in West Lafayette to figure out if that’s what’s really going on. The parathyroid regulates the amount of calcium in the blood and an elevated calcium level is called hypercalcemia. With hypercalcemia, you may become anorexic, start vomiting, drink and urinate more, and show signs of weakness, muscle trembling, and general lethargy. If left untreated, Chester will continue to experience the clinical signs of hypercalcemia. Prolonged elevated calcium in the bloodstream can cause permanent kidney damage, as well as other health problems. We don’t want him to go through any of that.
