Hi, I’m Heather. 11 years ago I met and married my husband. In 2014 we formed a new business, Old World Foods, LLC, a wholesale bakery. In 2015, we opened Uwe’s Bakery & Deli. My husband is the baker and I created the menu and provided the recipes for the kitchen. I also did the technical support, graphic design, marketing, social media, front and back of house support, research and development, HR, along with my daughter, we worked the Farmer’s Market on Saturday for the first few years. In 2017, I was able to quit my full time job and work strictly for the bakery. In 2020, I was able to get our products into some local grocery stores in New Braunfels, San Antonio, and Austin. Unfortunately due to COVID, we lost staff, then inflation went out of control, and we eventually had to close our store front. The business is still running, but all of the stress has caused some friction between us and my husband has asked for a divorce. I moved out and signed an 1 year lease and he then fired me, removed all of my access to accounts and told me to file for unemployment. I did that, but unemployment would not cover my rent. I explained I was going to have to get out of my lease and move back until the divorce was final. He agreed to continue paying me to cover my costs until I was able to find a job. Unfortunately, I now need legal counsel to assist with the divorce and division of property, as is stating I had nothing to do with the formation or running of the business. Any amount you can donate will help in reaching my goal. Thank you in advance for your help.
