WHĀNAU - Voices of Aotearoa
We are a group of New Zealand opera singers who have lost all our work here in Europe. We're doing whatever we can to make ends meet, but there has been a monumental loss of income and many of us aren't eligible for government assistance here in the UK.
Together, with the help of The Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation, FANZA and NZ High Commission, we've produced an online recital of vocal music from Aotearoa which was filmed in the Elgar Room at The Royal Albert Hall and released online in late November 2020. We're raising funds to help the individual artists during this insanely difficult time.
We want to feel connected to home. Many of us can't get back, many of us are facing complete career changes. All of us have lost an unrecoverable amount of our income. We are all looking at New Zealand with love and pain in equal measure.
By donating to view our recital, you'll be helping us all to survive this challenging time. Share our page, share our love, share our plight with everyone. Let the Voices of Aotearoa and our Whānau serenade you with our favourite songs from home while we find solace in each other and our music.

The funds raised will be withdrawn and administered by the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation on our behalf, and distributed equally between all participating Whānau London Voices artists. We are hugely grateful for the support of Gillian Newson and the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation for ensuring that every penny gets to where it needs to! This amount will then assist with financial deficits faced by each of the artists due to myriad cancellations of work this year, as well as continued cancellations during the next two years (which are already happening!).
We have felt lost and bereft due to this pandemic, but the amount of support and aroha we have received from everyone who has viewed the concert has given us an incredible amount of solace and we all feel very uplifted.
