Aid for Beirut Arcenciel USA sponsor-Wharton '03

On August 4, 2020 an explosion rocked Beirut. This tragedy hit friends and their families especially hard.  Currently the number of dead exceeds 100 and injured exceeds 3000, but the destruction is absolutely devastating across a 7 km radius destroying most of the city and its infrastructure and putting more tens of thousands without a shelter overnight. In addition, Lebanon has been going through an unprecedented economic and financial crisis with shortages on most basic goods, a rampant inflation of 300 pc and a currency devaluation of 500 pc, notwithstanding the health challenges posed by Covid. Before today, more than 50% of the Lebanese were living below the poverty line. This event could be the lethal blow for the City and country.

This fundraiser is for friends around the world who want to donate to assist in the countless aid that will be needed for the impacted 1 million residents of Beirut.  The sponsor team is a group of Wharton 2003 grads - 2 of whom are Lebanese.  The proceeds raised will be donated to the Lebanese Non-profit Arcenciel with the mission to support the most underprivileged and marginalized communities in Lebanon.
