What a Bummer!! Help Barrow Underground Music Society fix up

Hi , i’m Lynsey one of the B.U.M.S (Barrow Underground Music Society) volunteers ! B.U.M.S is a not-for-profit music venue and our aim is to provide not only a Grassroots independant music venue but a safe space for local creatives !

As much as we love to bring positive vibes to the community our little volounteer venue has had a disaster yesterday! The old drainage system at the back of the venue has blocked and flooded our entire downstairs and stage area ! Carpets soaked and ruined , alot of the stage has become damp and rotten , essential electrical cables ruined !

So far man power and £1100+ pound from the minimal BUMS bank and our own combined staff contributions has fixed the issue but we need to try and get us back in working order so we can open the doors for the kids and bands who practice here , the artists that create and make amazing art work here , the poets who feel free to express here can come back home! We have gigs booked in that keep the place afloat so need to get our groove back on asap.

For over 10 years Bums and their volunteers have been commited to supporting local and independent artists, fostering a vibrant music scene in our town, and creating a space for the community to come together and enjoy live music. But now, we face an unexpected challenge and need your help.

We run this venue with love and passion, driven by our commitment to giving independent bands and up and coming artists a platform. Every penny goes straight back into running the venue, booking bands, and covering essential costs.

Over the last 10-years, we’ve hosted countless live performances and DJ’s.

The cost of repairs and replacing damaged equipment is beyond what we can afford. Without assistance, we may be forced to delay and/or postpone up-coming events. Which would be heartbreaking.

We are asking for your help to raise £1,500 to cover the following costs:

• Repairing and restoring the stage and performance area

• Replacing damaged carpets and flooring

• Fixing or replacing essential music equipment

BUMS and their core staff members have paid for emergency professional services to address the drainage issue to prevent future flooding and cover the cost of the clean-up. Skip hire to aid the removal of damaged carpets , stage & electrical equipment. And this his has left the clubs finances in a sitch.

With your help, we will rebuild, reopen, and continue to support independent music , creatives and the people who love it. We’ll be fully transparent about how the funds are used.

We cannot express how much your support means to us. As you know this venue is a safe space where people come together to share experiences, celebrate music and art, and create memories.

Every donation, no matter how small, be it a share, a donation of money or even a donation of essential materials and extra people power will bring us one step closer to reopening our doors.
