Update: Jamey and Jimbo have just met with surgeon and oncologists. Next Tuesday, July 16 all preop procedures will be done. Surgery to remove prominent carcinoid tumors in the Liver, Pelvic region, and in the remaining Lymph Nodes will be done on Thursday, July 18. A minimum hospital stay of 7-10 days is anticipated, however, recovery and outcome will determine if additional time is required. Continued prayers and support will be greatly appreciated. You've got this Jamey Lynn. Stay strong, stay focused, stay committed in your faith in our heavenly father. He has you wrapped in his loving arms. We love you.
My sister Jamey has a hard time asking for help. In fact, she and her husband Jimbo are typically the ones to be putting on the fundraising efforts for others. However, her 9 hour trips to the cancer specialists in Louisiana are going to be frequent and long. They need a little help from their friends.
Long drives, overnight stays and all those miscellaneous costs that come when you're fighting this ugly disease are mounting up.
Your help would be greatly appreciated. Your prayers will be priceless.
Jamey is being treated at an aggressive treatment center. She's funny, and good hearted; she's a wife, and mother, and grandmother. Mostly she's my sister. She's a fighter. A strong-willed, get-this-bastard, no nonsense warrior! Jamey Clark Edwards, you are courageous and brave. You are loved. ❤️
Facebook recently asked "What's on your mind" well since you asked here what is going on".... 6 years ago Jamey was diagnosed with colon carcinoma cancer. She had 4 tumors and 7 lymphnodes removed.
For the past 6 years she has received specialized medication every month to keep any remaining carcinoids dormant, and for six years, that strong medication worked!!
Now, however, that ugly ugly ruthless CANCER has shown its evil ways once again! It has now been found in her liver and small intestines. The oncologist who is located is OKC has been an amazing doctor and we trust his team wholeheartedly.
Because of where the tumors are located he has strongly recommended to send her to a place in Louisiana. It's called Neuro Endocrine Clinic. They have a specialty cancer team that only treats carcinoid cancers. Although it's a great inconvenience, Jamey and Jimbo will make the trip as often as they need to.
It's scary and it sucks but we have great faith and trust in the decisions about to be made.
Carcinoids which is now called neuro endocrine are very slow growing and hard to detect until it's progressed at an ugly rate.
In fact, only certain test can detect them, fortunately the scan Jamey had was specially designed for this type of detection and so these are considered early detection.
She is where she needs to be. Financial help and lots and lots of prayers will help her and Jimbo to fight the good long fight.
