Improving literacy in San Diego

I am building "Mini Libraries" for communities in Southeast San Diego. I have noticed that many of the communities in San Diego have these homemade mini libraries on corners, but they seem to be missing throughout Southeast San Diego. I will build the Mini Libraries and provide books of different genres, languages and age groups for the many different people that live in the communities.
"Mini Library"
Growing up as a child I always had a passion for reading but never had enough money for new books; my local library was usually of no help since it was smaller than a studio apartment. Many of the people in Southeast can relate to that above sentence, and this is my way of bringing more books to those communities.
Reading gives you the chance to explore a new land or fantasy world. It can teach you a new skill or hobby. We all have read a story that has inspired us to be a better version of ourselves. I hope to bring that inspiration to as many people as possible.
I will be purchasing wood, plexiglass, paint, glue, cement mix, nails and other items to help build the Mini Libraries. Local businesses have offered to hold book drives for me, and I will also gather books from secondhand shops. Any amount of money helps and is much appreciated!
My long-term goal is to create a nonprofit and continue to provide this much-needed resource to our communities.
Thank you!
