Remember summers when you were a kid? If you grew up in a suburb, you probably spent a lot of happy days at a neighborhood pool. Those were wonderful times.
Many of you may still use the valuable skills you first learned while participating in Swim Team. Some years your team was fantastic (remember the TP'ed trees?). Others, not so great, but the pool was ALWAYS a happy, healthy place where kids could learn how to swim, join a team and win and lose gracefully, work hard to see their times drop, work as a team for relays and points, work hard and learn that sometimes their best efforts still aren't enough, learn that they can push each other to do better, and learn to listen to their coach.
If you grew up in Aspen Hill, you probably went to Wheaton Woods Pool, or swam against them in meets.
Now Wheaton Woods Pool is in trouble. Financial trouble. If some money doesn't come in very soon, the pool will close at the end of July. This is a heartbreaking situation.
There are several ways you can help.
The most fun way: JOIN THE POOL!
Visit free to see if you like it. Membership is prorated for half the season. GET YOUR KIDS IN THE WATER! Get YOU in the water! Hang around with other great families and watch your kids splash and swim, just like you did.
Obviously, donating money would be great, too. You can do that through PayPal on the front page of our website (www.wheatonwoodspool.com). We have also set a GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/2cn292s). Any amount is gratefully accepted. Can you do $20?
AND PLEASE tell your friends and neighbors, with or without kids.
If you prefer, you can mail your donation to:
