Help Buy Wheelchair Accessible Doors for Chari's Cob Greenhouse

Introduction:
Join us in creating accessibility for Chari Thompson, MA, LPC, a local Missouri therapist battling Huntington's Disease. With your support, we can buy custom wheelchair accessible doors for her new cob greenhouse!

Chari's Story:
Chari's journey with Huntington's Disease has been both challenging and inspiring. As her condition progresses, she's determined to maintain her independence and continue pursuing her passions. One of these passions is gardening, which not only brings her joy but also provides essential nourishment for her health.

Raising Awareness for Huntington's Disease:
Huntington's Disease is a rare neurological disorder with devastating effects on individuals and families, affecting approximately 1 in 10,000 people worldwide. Chari often explains it as a combination of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, as it impacts both movement and cognitive function.

Austedo is a medication commonly prescribed for Huntington's Disease. It is used to help manage chorea, a symptom characterized by involuntary movements. It can be prohibitively expensive, costing as much as $7,500 per month. Chari was prescribed Austedo and was greatly relieved when she could finally begin taking it last week because her doctors found a way to make it financially accessible for her! Yay!!

This medication not only helps manage symptoms but also improves the quality of life for those living with Huntington's Disease. Chari's experience reflects the immense relief and hope that comes with accessing necessary treatment. We are deeply grateful for your support in making this possible, both financially and emotionally.

The Greenhouse Project:
Our community has rallied together to build a cob greenhouse for Chari. Cob, a natural building material, is not only sustainable but also accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Volunteers from near and far have contributed their time and energy to this project, demonstrating the power of community solidarity.

Gab and Jade's Leadership:
Leading this project are Gab and Jade, two incredible women whose friendship blossomed through a shared love for yoga. Gab, with her expertise in natural building, has been instrumental in guiding the construction of the greenhouse. Jade, Chari's daughter, has been a pillar of support throughout, ensuring that her mother's dreams are realized.

The Need for Wheelchair Accessible Doors:
While much progress has been made, there's one crucial element missing: wheelchair accessible doors. As Chari's mobility decreases, these doors will enable her to tend to her greenhouse independently. Getting the doors custom built is essential, but we need your help to make it happen!

Building the Doors:
A local builder will be making the custom doors for us. His dedication and craftsmanship will ensure that Chari has the accessibility she needs to spend time in her beautiful new greenhouse!

How You Can Help:
Your donation, no matter the size, will bring us closer to our goal of making Chari's greenhouse wheelchair accessible. Whether you contribute financially or spread the word, every act of kindness matters. Together, we can ensure that Chari's greenhouse becomes a symbol of resilience and inclusivity for our Midwest community. Thank you for being a part of this journey and for making a tangible difference in this project, our community, and Chari's life!
