Wheelchair accessible vehicle for Kathy

Hello there!

I am Barbie. I have started this GoFundMe page for my family back in South Africa.
My sister, Kathy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was just over a year old and has been in a wheelchair all her life. She  just celebrated her 41st birthday in February.

My mom and dad have coped well all these years taking care of her, but as of late it has become much more difficult for them as they have gotten older and weaker.  My dad, now 73 has become incapacitated to the extent of not being able to put her in the back seat of his car. (He has become ill with symptoms of vertigo and weakness in his legs) It is just too difficult for him with the weight and the level to which he has to bend to place Kathy inside. He is also retired which means he has no steady income to be able to make payments on a “new” vehicle. 

 It would help them tremendously if they had a wheelchair accessible vehicle with a lift-gate or ramp to make it easier for them to transport Kathy whenever they head out somewhere. 

These vehicles, in South Africa, start at approximately R180,00.00 (used) which is more or less $12,000.00 - $15,000.00 depending on the exchange rate.  See www.capemobility.co.za for more info on these vehicles.

One of their favorite pastimes is to take scenic drives to Blouberg, Franschoek or Kleinmond on Sunday afternoons after church.  Kathy would be heartbroken if they could no longer do that just because they aren’t able to help her into the car.
