Wheelchair Bound Homeless Woman Needs Help!

Hello, I'm Shannon. For the last 2+ years I've been homeless and staying with various friends. It all started when someone very close to me was incarcerated for something I had no idea that they were doing. For the sake of my children, I'd prefer to leave it at that. Needless to say, I left at the time with my children. In one fell swoop I lost my home, my main caregiver and in essence my children because I can't care for them both on my own without help. (They are living with family and I have full access to them and see them frequently)

Since this happened I have basically been surviving by the grace of kind people in my life that took me in and helped me with my physical day today needs. Unfortunately all of these avenues have been exhausted and I cannot be a burden on people for the rest of my life. But an opportunity has presented itself. I have found an apartment especially set up for people with disabilities within walking distance of friends who can help me on a day-to-day basis physically. The rent has a possibility of being subsidized but I can't get on the list for subsidy until I actually move in. And because it's now the New Year the rent has raised, as well as security deposits. Most of my money every month goes to medication. So I am basically coming now to you one more time hoping for the kindness of others as I have had to for the last 2 years to survive. It's a strange position for me to be in because up until this point, I was known by most people in my life as the one who took in strays, giving people a place to live that needed help, no questions asked for as long as they needed. I'm a typically independent person and I don't ask for help lightly or with much ease. I just need help getting over this last hump and I will finally be in a place where I can really be independent for the first time in my life and thrive! I suppose I can give more information later in the updates, this is just a starting point to get this GoFundMe started.
