Wheelchair for Davin

Davin Lucas, a 7th grade student at JFK Middle School suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This illness is degenerative weakening of the skeletal and heart muscles. It quickly gets worse with time. Davin’s state of illness is declining to the point that his already limited mobility is further compromised. Davin needs a power wheelchair as he no longer has the muscle strength to push the manual chair. After multiple attempts his family is being told the power chair will not be covered by insurance and must be an out-of-pocket expense. The family does not have the resources for a chair. With the rapid rate of deterioration from this illness, time is of the essence. We are desperately looking for resources or assistance with obtaining a Permobil M3 Corpus power wheelchair for Davin to allow him to retain as much independence as possible for as long as possible. I am asking your assistance in helping Davin obtain the requested power wheelchair. All funds collected will be applied toward the $20K+ price of the chair. -Thank you!
