A wheel chair for Susan Hart
A botched surgery after a broken leg 24 years ago, has resulted in Susan being confined to a wheel chair in chronic pain and the inability to walk. She didn’t let that stop her. She and her husband Henry have spent their lives serving others as well as raising nine children of their own. Selflessly they minister in their community as well as many mission trips to the Dominican Republic.
Insurance companies can be difficult to deal with. Because of diminished upper body strength the insurance company has denied a manual wheel chair. Susan propels herself in the wheel chair using her feet and, of course, with the help of others. She can transfer (painfully from chair to car, bed etc.). An electric chair would require a different vehicle and would deny her the freedom to do ANYTHING with her friends.
The cost of a new chair? $4,100. There are so many things Susan CAN’T do. A new light weight chair would make it possible for her to go to church, shopping …any of the simple daily outings we all take for granted. Please don’t let our dear friend be trapped.
