Wheelchair swing for Bixby West

Bixby West is the home to the elementary and intermediate Essential and Concept program. This program has students of all abilities and many have physical challenges. Our students use adaptive equipment that helps them to access most of our new building. Our playground is accessible to most but does not meet the needs of our students with physical limitations. Through the BEEF grant, we were able to purchase a wheelchair-accessible swing with a non-permanent swing frame. Our elementary and Intermediate class begin to make lanyards as part of beginning job skills and to offset the price of our swing, our hope is that we can raise money to provide more adaptive play equipment and make more of an inclusive environment for all students. With the money raised, we will first purchase a permanent swing frame that can accommodate a wheelchair swing, an adaptive harness swing, and multiple bench swings to provide inclusive play and encourage play among all students, including those with disabilities.
