Wheelchair Van for Mauricio Dominguez Sr.
Donation protected
On June 20, 2023, Mauricio Dominguez Sr. was rushed to the hospital after losing feeling and movement from the waist down.
MRI results showed a pathological fracture at the T3 vertebrae with spinal cord compression. Mauricio was rushed to emergency surgery to relieve the compression and fuse the spine.
Upon further testing, Mauricio was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. Despite the surgeon's best efforts, the damage to his spinal cord was too great and he is now paralyzed from the chest down.
Mauricio does not have medical insurance and was the primary income earner for he and his wife. Due to his new disability, he is unable to continue to work. It has been an uphill battle to ensure he receives the care he deserves.
Mauricio is currently undergoing cancer treatment. However, transportation to and from medical appointments is costly (approximately $150/transport, 2-3x/week). Without a wheelchair accessible van, Mauricio is homebound.
To provide Mauricio with adequate transportation to and from treatments, as well as ensure he can regain some level of normalcy, we are raising funds to purchase a wheelchair accessible van.
