Wheelchair Van for Providence
Donation protected
The story begins in 2017 when Providence was born. We quickly realized she was a difficult baby and her development was much slower, around 3-6 months behind typical kids. Fast forward to her first birthday and her first seizures and our world quickly got turned on its head.
It turns out Providence has a rare genetic seizure disorder called EIEE-37 that affects the FRRS1L gene and causes progressive seizure activity and usually a regression of all childhood development to that point.
By Summer 2019, just before her second birthday, we realized we needed to change our vehicle situation and invested in a standard minivan that has suited us well over the years. But, Providence is now quickly approaching her 7th birthday, she’s over 40 lbs, nearly 4 feet tall, and lifting her 100lb wheelchair in and out of the back of the van is a task in of itself and carries its own health risks.
Plus, as a soon-to-be 7 year old girl who regularly needs diaper and clothing changes, a minivan offers little in the way of privacy and proper space for those needs for such a big kid!
So, with all that in mind, we’ve started looking at wheelchair accessible vans and that is where we are asking for your help. The car market is harsh right now and financing even more so, but with some help from you plus our family doing our due diligence to organize finances, we can get Providence the proper transportation for her needs and safety and to grow with her as she gets bigger and needs more equipment.
Thank you so much for any contribution to our daughter and her quality of life. We can’t begin to express how truly grateful we are. God Bless.
