Wheelchair Van for Quadriplegic Mom

Donation protected

Hi Everyone!

No family likes asking for help but when it's time, it's time. Please read below for what our fundraiser is about <3

My beautiful mother that you see above at my wedding this year (PC: The Hons), was paralyzed from the neck down in August 2001 in an accident while she was on her way to church with two of her siblings caused by their car hydroplaning and flipping out of control. I was 7 years old and my little brother was 2 months old at the time. Through rigorous therapy and prayer, she had her throat trake removed and eventually was able to regain some motion in her right arm and neck allowing her to have her baby (at that time) in her lap, move the toggle stick on her wheelchair, eventually use a smartphone with some assistance, and other very basic movements. Thankfully she recieved no brain damage whatsoever so her motor skills are completely intact. Although her health is a bit of a roller coaster because of her paralysis, she has been able to be a wonderful and wise mother to both her children and an amazing wife to her husband.

At this point in time, the van our family was assisted in acquiring about 10 years ago unfortunately is starting to break down. The van itself is aged so it keeps having troubles, as well as The ramp that was installed in it continues to break and my disabled but perseverent father has spent numerous days putting humpty dumpty together again so that my mom can get out of the house, before it breaks again. The last time he pieced it together, we were able to get to her niece's birthday party but as we were leaving the ramp lost some control and almost closed with her on it. Not a great moment for us or anyone as you could imagine. Despite the circumstances, my dad keeps on patching our van up and my mom keeps on truckin' in the hopes that after they pay off their mortgage they'll be able to buy a new van.

My mom is the matriarch of the siblings in our big fat family tree and has always been involved in her family members lives. Recently, the van wasn't working so my aunts so graciously slept over and had her nieces get ready for prom at my family's home so that she would be able to be part of the big day. Their graduations are this weekend and we're praying for "fair weather". Please allow us to give my mom the reliable transportation she needs so that she has the freedom you and I take for granted.

My mom is everything to me and my dream is to be able to hand her a new handicap van and eventually handicap upgrades to her home as well as a nurse to help with the day to day seeing as my disabled father and elderly grandmother are her main caretakers, with my little brother and I assisting when possible ( yeah I know, insurance should cover these necessities but unfortunately it's not the case.) If by a wonderful miracle, this fundraiser surpasses the amount needed for the handicap accesible van, the money will go toward home modifications and a professional caregiver.

There's so many different aspects to this and I will possibly make a video later this week just telling our story and letting you know just how important a new handicap accesible van is, but until then I hope that this is enough for some donations to our cause. <3

Thanks for all the help in advance! Be Blessed ❤️
