Wheelchairs for the Disabled in Sierra Leone
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ishmael. This year, my Mum and I have decided to provide assistance and support to the disabled in Sierra Leone by donating wheelchairs. In December, we plan to purchase wheelchairs in Australia and distribute them in Sierra Leone. We have experienced the hardship firsthand as immigrants from Sierra Leone, where the percentage of disabled people is exceptionally high, which emerged from a decade-long civil war. The war left a high prevalence of people with forced amputations and little to no proper health care; most people are immobile and dependent on family members to move around. Their disability and immobility lead to most being marginalised; it is a challenge for children as a majority have little to no schooling. With each wheelchair costing a minimum of $150, our goal is to provide at least 60 to 100. Let's help put a smile on the faces of those in need.
