Meet Charlotte Patt. She is a pretty remarkable tiny human who has been through quite the journey in her 2.5 years here on earth. Charlotte lives with a severe form of Shprintzen-Goldberg Syndrome, a rare disease that has been diagnosed to roughly 50 people worldwide. She has been through 12 major surgeries and spent close to 6 months of her life in the hospital. Despite her medical complexity, Charlotte lives a happy life with her Mom, Dad, Brother(4yo), and Sister(6yo). She is non-verbal, but full of emotion.
Most recently, the Patt family struggled through surgery complications with Charlotte, followed by very scary events involving Charlotte needing CPR. She was rushed to her local Emergency room and then flown to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN (a 4 hour drive from the family’s home) where she receives most of her complex care.
Charlotte has used a ventilator for a year now and currently depends on this to keep her breathing, along with other equipment for her trach. She has severe hypotonia which means her muscle tone is weak and she is unable to hold her head up, sit unassisted, or even roll. This all leaves Charlotte hard to transport as she is growing bigger. The family has started the process of getting a handicap accessible van. This will allow Charlotte the safest travel with her family.
This gofundme has been started to help the Patt family with lowering the financing of a mobility vehicle that will ring in around $45K. Mom has started working part time from home to pay for the vehicle’s monthly payment, but is Charlotte’s full time caretaker along with their 1 private duty nurse. Dads income supports the family of 5 for all other needs.
