Wheels for Josiah
Donation protected
Josiah needs a new wheelchair and possibly a new prosthetic leg -- let's help him get them!
Josiah was born with VACTERL, a rare disorder that affects multiple body systems. VACTERL is an acronym for vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, tracheo-esophageal fistula, renal anomalies, and limb abnormalities. Affected individuals may also have other anomalies. People diagnosed with VACTERL typically have at least three of the characteristic features. Josiah is affected by many of these.
Josiah is the sweetest little boy, despite the fact that he endures countless doctor appointments, medications, treatments, surgeries, and hospital stays.
Josiah's insurance company recently denied his claims for a new wheelchair. (The one he currently uses is being borrowed from a local hospital.) So, we would like to help his family purchase a wheelchair just for him.
And, overnight on February 28/March 1, Josiah's family's car was vandalized and the perpetrators stole Josiah's backpack AND his prosthetic leg that was inside the backpack. If the prosthetic leg is not found or is found but is not in good condition, then we would like to help his family repair or replace his prosthetic leg.
Funds raised here will be withdrawn by Josiah's mom, Brie Rainey, and will be used solely for Josiah's medical care -- to purchase a new prosthetic leg (if his is not recovered and in good condition) and/or to purchase a new wheelchair.
Thank you for your generosity! If you are unable to give a monetary donation, then Josiah and his family would be grateful if you send your prayers and good vibes!
