Where is Barbara Annette McClure?
Donation protected
November 11, 2024
46 years since Barbara disappeared, 552 months, 2400 weeks, 16,812 days. Long enough for people to have come forward, long enough for her case to have been fully investigated. Yet neither of those things have happened.
We took a break on the crowd funding, but I’m back at again. It’s hard to ask for donations when we don’t know how the donations will be spent. But we need your help! Any amount will help - thank you for taking time to read this.
Cadaver dogs? Attorney fees? Travel expenses for Crime Cons? Starting up a podcast where people can hear about this journey in Jamie’s own words, maybe in the words of family members who, until this point, have chosen to remain quiet?
Dateline published an article that has increased visibility on Barbara’s case. Things like this can bring in new information and we want to be ready to react and respond. Here’s the link: https://www.nbcnews.com/dateline/cold-case-spotlight/barbara-mcclure-1978-seattle-missing-person-rcna179398
August 18 Update - https://www.truecrimefestnorthwest.com/
Jamie will be speaking at this event if you would like to come it’s in Portland Oregon August 30-September 1.
July 12 - we’ve lost a little momentum on fundraising, but I know we can meet our goal! We are still working hard on bringing Barbara’s story to a resolution. Is she still alive? We’re exploring every possibility…and that takes time and money. So much has happened since Barbara disappeared…here she is with Jamie, the next photo is of Jamie some time after Barbara disappeared. The last photo…Jamie with her family. Barbara has 5 grandkids. We can’t, won’t let this go. Jamie, Ryan, and their kids want answers….and wouldn’t you if your mom was taken from you?
Update, June 27 - we are almost to the halfway point of our goal. Small donations add up quickly - if GoFundMe isn’t your cup of tea for donations, Venmo and Zelle are also options. You can reach to me, to Jamie, or to Karleen - we can set you up.
Big news! Jamie has hired a private detective! Not just any PI, but one with tons of experience…highly regarded in the PNW. Thank you Cloyd Steiger…please help us fund this.
AS OF JUNE 12, 2024 BARBARA HAS BEEN MISSING 16,660 DAYS.
Two weeks ago Jamie, Karleen and I flew to CrimeCon 2024 in Nashville on our own dime. It was a difficult trip, realizing just how many people are missing in the US and hearing how little is done by law enforcement to search for them. The costs, the resources, the laws can all come into play. Regardless, the search falls back to the family. You can help Jamie by donating to the search for Barbara. Any amount will help. Currently the biggest cost is paying for a private detective.
UPDATE - We had a disappointing meeting with King County Detectives last week. Due to funding and staffing issues, while the case is not closed they are not able to commit to spending much time on the case. This means the investigation falls to Jamie. As you imagine, with 45 years having passed - people have moved out of the area. Face to face interviews elicit much more information than e-mails and/or phone calls. Posters cost money, web sites to do a deep dive into locating people and doing background checks come at a price. Private Investigators are costly. Would you please consider helping through donations and sharing this on your social media? Thank you!
In 1978, Jamie Stupey’s mom, Barbara Annette McClure disappeared under very suspicious circumstances when Jamie was just 2 years old. Unfortunately the case was investigated as a missing person, and even that investigation was minimal. The case quickly went cold, and sat on a shelf until February 2023, when King County Sheriff’s Detectives met with Jamie and agreed the case had been poorly investigated. In the 18 months since then there has been no movement and minimal communication with Jamie on what, if any progress.
We, Karleen Klopp (Jamie’s cousin) and Kathi Lang (Jamie’s close friend) are helping Jamie keep her Mom’s case alive through social media. Many people who knew Barbara are coming forward with information about Barbara and her family. This information is hard for both Jamie and Karleen as it is negative information about their family.
As the investigation seems to have stalled for King County, Jamie will need to fund her own investigation. This involves costs of posters, costs of locating court files, professional services such as age progression photos, possible travel to meet with witnesses and potentially hiring a private investigator.
So far, Season of Justice is funding a billboard to put up with Barbara’s info on it, and Jamie is doing podcasts to help get the word out as well.
Jamie is very reluctant to crowd fund on this, so we took the decision out of her hands. We ask that you help Jamie find out what happened to her Mom. All of the funds raised will be used towards JAMIE’S EXPENSES in finding out what happened to Barbara Annette McClure.
