Where's George? Production Finance
Donation protected
Hello! We are a group of passionate Chicago filmmakers looking to finish our funding to film a societally relevant and heartwarming story about families navigating the foster system, marriage, and the unexpected disappearance of the family matriarch.
The story follows an eccentric artist couple, George, a stage actor, and his wife, Mini, a humanitarian. The couple opens their home to numerous foster children. George's world is unexpectedly shaken when his wife goes missing.
As they manage this newfound responsibility, he is confronted with the harsh reality of institutionalized unfair treatment towards their foster children. This experience sparks a deep emotional journey, leading them to become passionate advocates for the rights and well-being of these vulnerable young people.
The director, Maura Smith, is a screenwriting and editing professor at Columbia University. She is one of the first women to write and direct an independent feature film in Chicago. She is known for her directorial work on Towing (1978).
We are currently in pre-production and aim to shoot in mid-March. We need help with the final phase of our funding…we’re almost there! Anything you can contribute to help bring our film to life would be greatly appreciated.
