UPDATE 7/5/2023
Carol has returned to Baseballtown! She worked every game last week so she is doing so much better, and her smile is once again lighting up the ballpark. It is so great to see her back in action.
This updated photo is one I received from the young lady in the center, Caitlin. It is a great picture of Carol, Caitlin and Diane. It is what we are used to seeing, so glad her worst days are over.
Carol is seeing the medical bills rolling in, and I can only imagine how scary it is to see the amount owed for her hospitalization. She is such a trooper, and continues to plug away, doing what she can workwise, always smiling.
I appreciate your contributions to her GoFundMe page, and I hope you will continue to share the good news about Carol. Prayers and donations will continue to be accepted. Thank you again for your generosity. Baseballtown is a family, and we are blessed to be part of it.
UPDATE 6/12/2023
Just in case you missed her, Carol was a baseball fan for the doubleheader on 6/10 and the game on Sunday, 6/11! Diane stood guard as she was told to block the door and keep Carol out of the Upstairs Hot Dog stand for the time being. That didn't dampen Carol's spirit though, she enjoyed watching the games, the fireworks and talking to her many fans.
Ready for some really good news? Carol plans to work on Saturday, 6/17! I hope you will come out for the MegaBlast and to see Carol, we are all so happy to welcome her back, and encourage her to continue to take good care of herself. I know I miss her smile every game day, and I am looking forward to her full return to the R-Phils!
Once again, I just wanted to thank you all for your contributions to Carol's GoFundMe. It is truly an amazing reminder that we look out for each other, in many ways. R-Phils employees and fans are like family. We see each other at the games, and when that person is not there, you feel their absence. Carol is indeed blessed by your friendship and support. Thanks again!
UPDATE 5/26/2023
Good news!
Carol is home, trying to get strong enough to come back to work. Without getting too caught up in details, her issue was heart-related, and we hope to see her sooner than later. Diane said she sounds good, and she is missing the ballpark big time...no surprise. Carol loves Baseballtown, and the fact that she wants to get back here to see all of her favorite fans is a good reason to listen to the doctors, she needs to rest, and recuperate, so she can climb those stairs to the Upstairs Hot Dog Stand.
Carol spent about a week and a half in the hospital. Currently, she is restricted from lifting her left arm for 2 months, so it is unknown if she will be able to return to her full-time job soon, and we will have 12 games coming up between 6/6-6/18, which is a lot even for someone, who hasn't been in the hospital. If you haven't had a chance to contribute to Carol's gofundme, it is not too late. Carol was very thankful when she heard that we had started this campaign for her. She didn't realize how many people cared about her well-being, so thank you for helping Carol out during this time. I appreciate the support for her as well. We'll keep you posted. Thanks again!
Hello,
My name is Deneen Giesen, and I am the office manager for the RPhils, in Reading, PA. I have the pleasure of working with Carol Moyer, who is a true ray of sunshine. Carol runs the Upstairs Hot Dog Stand, and has been a fixture here at the ballpark since 1987. Her good friend, Diane, works right beside Carol, serving up dogs while greeting the fans. There are many that depend on Carol to be there, and I am one of them!
Recently, Diane informed me that Carol was hospitalized after feeling bad for 5 games in a row. She is such a trooper that she worked her full time job, and then came in to the ballpark each day. Finally she went to the doctor, and they found that she has a blood clot, and will not go home until she is stabilized, and able to breathe better. We have no idea when she will be back, brightening the ballpark with her big smile & infectious laugh.
Carol is like the millions of Americans that do not have healthcare, and as a result, she doesn't go to doctors because of the astronomical prices that come with a hospitalization. Needless to say, this has Carol worried about getting back to work, and the bills she is going to find in her mailbox in the near future.
I am asking for your help to get Carol through this time. She is a real gem, and with so many coworkers & fans that know & love her, I know there will be many that ask where's Carol? Now you know, and I bet you would do anything to help her out. So, if you would contribute to help Carol get back on her feet, that would be great. We can't wait to see her back in Baseballtown, either as an employee or a fan recuperating. All contributions, big and small will help brighten her day, just like she brightens ours. Your good thoughts & prayers are most welcome too.
I wish I had a picture of Carol to share, I know you know who she is. The best I can do is show you her Upstairs Hot Dog Stand that awaits her return! Thank you for your help, we are grateful for your time! DG
