Support the 2022 White Center Pride Festival
Tax deductible
Please consider donating to the White Center Pride Committee (501c3 non-profit) to help fund the 2022 White Center Pride Festival in support of the LGBTQIA+ community on June 1st-5th, 2022.
The highly diverse neighborhood of White Center, just beyond the border of Seattle, was thriving up until the Pandemic hit. After one of our LGBT-friendly bar permanently closed due to the Pandemic, the neighborhood's main LGBTQIA+ gathering place, the Lumberyard Bar, was burned down by an arsonist the evening of July 4th, 2021. In addition, 6 other main street businesses were declared unusable, and then another fire in a separate incident closed even more businesses on the main downtown strip. The community has been devastated by this chain of events and the neighborhood is struggling to recover. The arsonist/s are still at large.
White Center needs your help now more than ever to rebuild the neighborhood. The Pride Committee's goal is to bring a daytime LGBTQIA+ Pride festival to the main downtown street (16th st) the first weekend of the June 2022 Pride month to celebrate our diversity and perseverance during trying times. There will be local vendors and performers. In addition, the 5-day Pride festival will include a flag raising, a gay skate night at the local roller rink, and events at local businesses. We are hopeful that the Lumber Yard will be re-open in its new space in time for the Pride celebration.
We encourage you to watch the attached video shot & edited by committee member Jonathan Wiggs who documented the small 2021 Pride flag raising (during the pandemic) & ensuing fire (fire coverage starts at 3:55) that took out the Lumber Yard and multiple downtown White Center businesses.
Help us host the 2022 Pride festival by donating today. White Center's gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, queer, and ally community will come back stronger than ever. Please note donations are tax deductible as the White Center Pride Committee is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization.
The mission of the White Center Pride Committee is to celebrate, promote, build and foster an inclusive and diverse LGBTQIA+ community where all are honored and valued.
