Darryel Woodson Final Expenses & Family Support
Donation protected
Darryel “White Folks” Woodson passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on June 4, 2023. He leaves behind his biological children Darylynn "Joy" Woodson and Christopher Smith as well as his chosen children, Jakneka Miller, Joshua Thompson, and Sydney Dotten, several grandchildren and his beloved life partner Jocelyn.
We are reaching far and wide to the friends, family and loved ones of Mr. Folks in an effort to raise money for his final arrangements and expenses, continued support for those who depended on him and of course to KEEP HIS LEGACY ALIVE.
We are asking the community to come together to help the family keep producing and publishing his films and writings, making the world aware of the true nature of being a player in the subculture called the game. He was dedicated to documenting the original rules of the game in a manner that could live on forever in time.
My name is Erikka. I met Folks in 2005. He was at Nubian bookstore in Southlake Mall promoting his book. Marcus, the owner introduced us and Folks began his marketing pitch.
His quick wit and candor had me sold and after buying his book, I offered to help him promote it for a small fee. That day we met as friends and became family.
Marcus Williams, owner of the bookstore and I would work on dozens of projects with Folks, from turning his book into a digital file for Amazon, to the Ask a Player sequel and YouTube series, to the numerous Players Court and Ask a Player interviews.
His family needs us.
To know Folks was to love him. This man was a giver. Not just of money and things, but a giver of time a giver of game, a giver of himself. Folks will be remembered as the “Original White Folks” and would share his knowledge of the game to any and all who would listen. No cups, no capes, no canes, just game.
Folks memorial service is quickly approaching so time is of the essence. Please take the time now to make a donation in his honor. If he has ever given you free game, helped you with a plug, sent a referral, given legal advice, or saved you from harm, now is the time to pay it forward. His surviving family in other States need your help in being able to say farewell.
We are forever grateful to have had such a distinguished gentleman and ultimate Player grace our lives for 73 years.
Marcus and I will be coordinating the outreach through our network and will help support the family during this time of bereavement. Please please please share and give.
All proceeds will be given directly to the family to continue the work, teachings, and Legacy, of Darryel "White Folks" Woodson
Thanks in advance.
