Whitko Log Cabin Renovation Project
Tax deductible
The Log Cabin located at Whitko High School was built in 1976 as a project to commemorate the American Bicentennial that took place that year. Biology Teacher Luke Hunt was the faculty sponsor for the project and students used the actual construction materials and methods that would have been used by European settlers in North America at the time of the American Revolution to build the cabin.
Now, 46 years after the construction of the cabin and just four years before the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of American Independence, the cabin needs repairs. Members of the Whitko High School Alumni Association have collected information about the original construction of the cabin and toured it with Mr. Hunt to develop a list of needed repairs.
The purpose of this GoFundMe account is to raise the funds necessary to pay for the materials needed to renovate the cabin and to install a sign at the location to commemorate the original Bicentennial project. Any funds raised more than the requested amount will be retained by the Whitko High School Alumni Association, Inc. and used for future projects and events supporting the Whitko Community Schools and the Whitko Community.
The Whitko High School Alumni Association, Inc. is qualified as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, so contributions toward this project may be deductible on your tax return. If you do not feel confident contributing online, you can send a check payable to the Alumni Association to 710 N. State Road 5, Larwill, IN 46764. Thank you for your support.
