Whitmore Family Flood Recovery
Beschermde donatie
Please consider donating to my parents who recently lost everything in the major Texas floods. Their home in Sealy, TX was under 24 inches of water. Their flood elevation certificate said no flood insurance was required so there was none (apparently the river didn't get the memo). They’ve been splitting their time between family members as their house is currently uninhabitable. My parents estimate that they’ve lost 85% of what they owned. The home has been gutted and it is being treated for mold.

The Houston area has experienced an unprecedented amount of heavy rainfall in 2016. On the morning of Saturday, May 28th, overnight rains caused the Brazos River to overflow its banks and our parents awoke to ankle deep water in their home. Given they had to quickly evacuate, they weren’t able to adequately prepare or rescue many items including their personal vehicles. Needless to say the majority of their furniture, appliances, and personal belongings were lost. Our parents’ home is elevated yet the water level in their home reached 24 inches while their detached apartment and garage received up to 43 inches. FEMA has included Austin County in the FEMA relief program but our parents have yet to receive any aid.

For more pictures/videos of the flooding you can visit this link.
Our parents have been blessed by various church groups coming out to volunteer to help them and their neighbors clear out debris and throw things away but there is still a lot of work to be done for them to be able to move back into their home. All floors, doors, cabinets, insulation/drywall, appliances, electrical wiring, and furniture will need to be replaced.
(Removing all the contents of the buildings to be thrown away - items that weren't ruined by the water were damaged by the clay from the river bottom)
All donations will be used to:
- Completely gut and rebuild the family’s home.
- Replace 4 vehicles which were ruined by flood waters.
- Replace furniture, appliances, electronics, and household items for Richard & Evelyn Whitmore as well as their son and daughter in-law and their two babies.
We've set a goal of $30K, but exceeding that mark would be even better. In lieu of a financial support, if you would like to donate any household items, etc. that would also be a huge blessing. You can reach out to Richard Whitmore (281-546-4646 or [e-mail geredigeerd])
We are so grateful that God kept our family safe. We realize that possessions can be replaced but people cannot. On behalf of our parents and family, thank you for considering helping.
