Whitney's hospital bill
Donation protected

Hello friends and strangers,
I truly hate to ask for money but I have pretty much run out of options. Last month I was sent to the hospital against my will, based on a misjudgment in my mental state, and received blood and urine tests without consent. I was billed the amount of $5,292 for the ER visit and tests, and received a discount because I do not have insurance, bringing my total bill to $3,175, which is still $3,175 more than I can afford to pay.
Because I signed a form to get discharged from the hospital, they are unable to waive any part of the bill. I simply do not have the money to pay for this bill. My parents, who are not sympathetic towards mental health issues, will not help me pay any of this bill.
I have been trying to resolve this ever since I was charged; I've called Atlantic Health System explaining my situation, and have since been ping-ponged between their Customer Care and Charity Care services, with neither being able to help me. Perhaps I just got unlucky with a particularly poorly managed health system (I called every extension in the Charity Care system every day for 2 weeks until I received a call back).
As a full-time college student already on financial aid and working on campus, I am at a complete loss for what to do. The stress of this bill is taking a huge toll on my mental and physical health.
Any amount that you can donate would be endlessly appreciated. Even if I can receive a half of the bill in donations, I would almost be able to pay the rest with what is in my savings account.
Thank you for reading and please share this if you wish.
