WHS Varsity Quiz Nat'l Tournament

For the first time in school history, the Western High School Varsity Quiz team has been selected to compete in the 2016 High School National Championship Tournament, sponsored by National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT).  This year's tournament will be hosted in Dallas, Texas, on Memorial Day Weekend.  

This honor is significant for the school because Western serves the largest number of students who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch in the entire state of Nevada (approximately 80% of the student body), and many of these students face severe systemic inequities in accessing a high-level education.  Earning this tournament berth is monumental for them, the program, and all of Western High School.

In order to compete in Dallas, the team is graciously asking for your help in raising funds to cover the cost of travel, lodging, meals, and tournament entry fees.  Opportunities like this one do not come often for our students, but WHS is trying to change that reality on a daily basis.  Being able to send the team to this prestigious competition would be a huge step in that direction.
