Wick Family Support

Hearts are broken and lives are changed forever. On Saturday, November 6th, David Rodger Wick, age 50, became one of heavens’ most beautiful guardian Angels. David was so many things, but first and foremost he was a devoted husband to his wife April and larger than life father to his 6 children, Brianna, Davie, Jordan, Zach, Gavin and Linzey.
On that sunny autumn afternoon, David went into the woods alone near their home to cut wood for his family, stocking up for their cozy winter fires, something he has done for the 19 years they lived on the mountain. At some point, the investigators believe that as a small tree was falling, a limb came down and struck David. There is a small amount of comfort knowing that he did not suffer from his injury.
When you experienced David with his family you could literally feel the love pouring from his heart and into each of them as well as his friends and extended family. He was joyous and funny, smart and talented, gifted and a gift to all of us. If there was an instrument around he could play it, if there was an art project to do his would stand out as the best, if there was a song to sing he knew the words, if there was a heart to sooth, a tear to wipe away or boo boo to heal..he was the one.
And now, he is gone and the loss is immeasurable on many levels. The love and guidance that David gave to his family along with a message he left for his 6 children, hidden in his office for years, YOU ARE STRONGER TOGETHER THAN YOU ARE APART, will help them to mend their shattered hearts. But like many families affected by covid, job loss and the tremendous financial burden of a large family…some facing college, others becoming new drivers and deeply involved in many sports and activities, the financial healing needs the help and support of community and friends.
April is a loving dedicated mother who is in her 17th year as an educator, currently pouring her soul into being a Multi-Categorical Teacher at Driswood Elementary School in Jefferson County. For the past 2 years David had been working from home doing contract work while exploring opportunities for finding his future employment and taking a large responsibility for the everyday life of his family.
Our prayer is that this fund will help April and her children navigate through this difficult time without the burden of financial concerns. Your donations will contribute to
college funds, saving investments, as well as, the many upcoming life expenses.
Our deepest gratitude to all who have reached out in any way to support the family. The outpouring of food, gifts and physical support from the community has been truly amazing, April is so proud to call this community home.
To those of you who contribute to this fund… someone once said that Fargo has over 100 words for snow, we wish that there were that many words for THANK YOU because we would use every one of them to express our gratitude.
To our beloved David, your smile, your hugs, your wisdom will live forever in our hearts. Our lives will never be the same without you, but living our lives in honor of you will make us all better people. We love you, we miss you, we hold you close always.
Love,
The family and extended family of this special man.
