Widowed Mother & Young Son: Urgent Support Needed

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Nan Kham Sein's husband: Sai Long Thip Kham.

On July 5th, 2023, at 2:08 a.m. Sai passed away from a sudden cardiac death, leaving Nan and her 5 year old son behind.

As they navigate through this difficult time, we ask our community to come together and help provide support for the Kham family.

Having only been in Iowa for a little more than a year, Nan and her son will have to navigate their new reality on their own. Nan is a stay-at-home mother whose main responsibility is to take care of their son – a son who has ongoing and constant pediatric care to follow and maintain. Because of this, Sai had to become the main breadwinner to help sustain the family, having access to all of the family’s assets, none of which Nan could immediately access.

Due to this new reality, Nan will have to learn how to not only take care of her son but maintain the life that her husband set her up with; including learning how to drive, speak English and how to gain employment. This fundraiser was created to help Nan and her son with immediate expenses like funeral costs, rent, utilities, food and clothing; along with assisting financially with her son’s medical care.
