Wild Salmon Caravan 2024 - Indigenous Climate Justice
Donation protected
The Wild Salmon Caravan is a grassroots social movement, and is entering into its 10th year of public arts and culture-based engagement on the topic of Indigenous Peoples food systems and wild salmon conservation. For thousands of years, wild salmon have been our most important Indigenous food, and cultural and ecological keystone species. The health and integrity of Indigenous food systems depend on their wellbeing.
We are reaching out to ask for your solidarity and financial support to cover the cost of artist fees, honoraria & travel expenses for cultural knowledge holders & speakers, as well as float building, art supplies, equipment, and food. We would be happy to receive a donation in whatever amount you choose in the range of $50 - $5,000 to support this year's Wild Salmon Caravan that will take place on September 28 & 29th in Chase, BC, Canada.
Led by the Working Group on Indigenous Food Sovereignty, the Wild Salmon Caravan was ‘spawned’ at a strategic think tank in the Lakes Secwepemc territory. The purpose was to discuss issues, concerns and strategies to address the record low numbers of wild salmon returning to their spawning grounds in our respective watersheds.
The theme for this year's caravan is Indigenous Climate Justice: Ride the Quantum Wave. We will be hosting arts and culture workshops that are intentional and inspired by the transformative worldview of Indigenous Peoples and the quantum understanding “that we shape the world, based on ‘how’ we observe it”.
Your support will be gratefully received as an expression of solidarity in working alongside and transforming the deep grief surrounding the industrial storm killing wild salmon in these times of social and environmental crises.
