“The real things have not changed, it is still best, to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to love God, family and friends above all else; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong” -Unknown

What you need to know about Wiley J. Huff III...

Wiley was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, and lawyer. A lover of the arts, great food, nature, and time laughing with family and friends. Wiley was more than just an excellent lawyer, he was also an educator in and out of the classroom. Wiley lived his most important teachings and as a result, left a lasting impact on those who were fortunate to have crossed his path. Love, faith, kindness, and gratitude merely scratch the surface of his teachings and philosophy. Wiley was the definition of love - radiating joy with a barreling laugh and captivating grin, even on a bad day, he was able to lift your spirits.

A saying he favored and shared with so many, "always seek higher ground." And, he wholeheartedly lived by these words each day.

Wiley thanked God for all his joys and misfortunes, everything was a blessing. Every day was a gift.

Wiley served as a beacon of hope to many and accepted anyone he met exactly as they were. Selfless and gentle by nature, his problems were never a problem, just a misadventure that would be conquered through faith and optimism. Wiley had a zest for life and a magnetic personality. An ongoing joke between close friends and family was how he wanted to retire everywhere he vacationed. The joke was that Wiley could never truly retire, for his life's work in civil rights and social justice was his God-given purpose. People were drawn to him - as if an otherworldly being, Wiley was a giant in this world. Imparting his wisdom, his heart, his strength... we are all better having known him.

The Higher Ground Scholarship Fund and why you should donate...

To honor his legacy, Wiley’s family is excited to establish the Higher Ground Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is established to help deserving students in need of free college counseling and help with college entrance examinations and application fees. Wiley was a firm believer in supporting youth striving for higher ground through education, and we believe that this scholarship would aid children and their families yearning to do just that! Wiley was an angel to so many and he has officially gained his wings. May he live on in our hearts, our fond memories, and through this small way of paying it forward to others in need - the Higher Ground Scholarship Fund.

*Note from the family: we thank you immensely for lifting us up through your encouraging, comforting words, through prayer, and by your generous contributions. Wiley was an extraordinary friend, a remarkable husband, a doting father, and a stranger to no one. Our hearts ache with his loss, but we find peace in knowing he lives on in each of us.
