Supporting Will Beynon and his family
Donation protected
We as a club (Clwb Pêl Droed Drefach) have decided to set up this donation page to show our support for one of our very own Will Beynon and his family as he battles cancer for the second time
️Will’s story in his own words:
“On the 29th June 2021 I was diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer called Ewing Sarcoma. The tumour was located in my left fibula and after numerous appointments with consultants, a chemotherapy and radiotherapy regime was agreed on. After 33 sessions of radiotherapy and 14 sessions of chemotherapy and the discussion of possible amputation of my leg, I was given the all clear in March 2022. At the age of 22, I had beaten cancer and had really started to get my life back on track.
On the 1st of November, I unfortunately relapsed. A tumour was located on my head and I was diagnosed with cerebral metastasis. Metastatic brain cancer (also called secondary brain tumours) is caused by cancer cells spreading to the brain from a different part of the body. In turn, they located cancer in my right and left shoulder. With metastatic brain cancer, for someone below the age of 25 to be diagnosed the chances are 1 in 100,000. The treatment plan that was decided upon was 30 sessions of radiotherapy.
With each radiotherapy session, my head and both shoulders are being treated. My treatment started on the 28th November and I travel up to Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff every weekday for treatment up until the 11th January. My family, partner and friends have given me unbelievable support through travel back and forth to Cardiff every day. I’m over half way through my treatment already, and the plan is to finish the radiotherapy treatment first and proceed with scans after.
I’m feeling very positive about it all and have set up an Instagram page where I share my cancer journey and diagnosis. Feel free to follow @taithwill. I’d like to say a massive thank you on behalf of myself and family for everyone’s support and kind words since the start of my diagnosis. Words can’t describe how much it means, it really gives me the motivation to finish this treatment and beat this cancer once again.
Diolch, Will”
As Will said, he is currently undergoing treatment every week day in which he has to travel back and forth to Cardiff every day. Your donations would support Will and his family with the cost and strain of travelling. Even when Will has finished his treatment, he will still need regular scans for a minimum of 5 years, so any donations would be very much appreciated. Will has been a part of Drefach since he was the age of 6 and we really wanted to do something to show our support. Alongside setting up this donation page we have also organised a ‘Day at Drefach’ for Wednesday 27th December (all information can be found on CPD Drefach social media pages) This is only the start, as we already have a plan in place for a fundraising event for April 2024 which will be announced on the 27th December and we will update this page also.
Thank you very much for your donations and support, they really mean a lot to Will and his family! Diolch
