Will Grainger's "24in24" Fundraiser
Tax deductible
I will be doing a fundraiser to support Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina this weekend from 1pm Sunday to 1pm Monday, and I would love everyone’s support in this effort. I will be running the “24 in 24” Challenge, where I will run 1 mile at the top of every hour for 24 hours.
Food insecurity is a prevalent issue in the Charlotte Community and one that I care about deeply. 15% of households in Mecklenburg County are challenged by food insecurity, due to both food deserts and affordability. Food deserts are areas where 1/3 of the population lives at least 1 mile from a supermarket or large grocery store and are a major problem, as they limit access to affordable, healthy, nutrient-dense food. Food deserts are also often in low-income areas where people are challenged by traveling further to healthy food and affording that food.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina works to provide food to people faced with food insecurity by soliciting and distributing food and household items to them. The food bank works through the national food bank network, Feeding America, and has been working in Charlotte since 1981.
I have created a GoFundMe for this fundraiser and have linked it in this email. I encourage everyone to share it with their parents, family, and friends and would love support in fighting food insecurity in our community.
