Will Sikes - Eagle Project

I am Will Sikes from Boy Scout Troop 150 in Bernardsville, New Jersey and am soon going to be carrying out an Eagle project that will benefit the Bernardsville Audubon Society. This organization benefits that community through the protection of natural land and wildlife, access to trails, community events, environmental protection and education, and much more. More information about the Bernardsville Audubon can be found using the link below. I will be renovating a trail that leads up to a community area beside the Audubon Society building. The trail is currently in a state of disrepair, which has led to erosion, tree roots being left vulnerable, and tripping hazards (see photos below). It is also surrounded with invasive plants that I will be removing and replacing with native species.

This project will have a lasting impact on the local community as the specific area is commonly used for environmental education, for summer camps, and by hikers passing through. The maintenance on the trail will help prevent further erosion and greatly improve its functionality and visual appearance. By implementing the project both the Bernardsville Audubon Society and those who enjoy the reserve will be benefited. With the inclusion of native plants and the prevention of further erosion, local wildlife will also be of interest, which will lead to further benefits for the community.

In order to carry out this project I will need about 34 (6in x 6in x 8ft) pieces of pressure treated lumber approved for ground contact, about 50 cubic feet of quarry process rock and some other materials. In total the project will cost about $2,200 to complete. Please donate in order to help achieve this goal of benefiting the Bernardsville Audubon Society.
