Will You Be A LifeSaver?

To know Kelly and Josh is to know love in every way possible. Not only within their love, but the love they give to light the lives of the people around them. They are incredible, genuine, generous and two of my closest friends. Over the majority of their marriage Kelly and Josh have fought medical battles both together and individually. Just within the last few years, Kelly so bravely faced the diagnosis of breast cancer, underwent surgery and cancer treatments.
During this same time, and still through today Kelly has been giving care to her husband while he is facing his own diagnosis of kidney failure due to diabetes. Josh has been on the transplant list for a new kidney for the better part of 5 years. When he initially was placed on the list his kidney function was at about 20%, currently his kidney function is at 2%. The severity of this can not be stressed enough. The dialysis that Josh undergoes can only sustain him for so long. He is unable to function as much as he wishes he could. Kelly and Josh have devoted themselves to care for each other, and now it’s our turn to care for them. Below I am going to outline the process of donating a kidney on Josh’s behalf. I’d like to personally thank you for considering a monetary donation to help support the Mason Family and to help defer the cost of the enormous burden that comes with medical treatment.

The living donor program:
To all our family and friends,
We are reaching out to anyone and everyone to share this post, and to try and find a living donor.

If you are at all interested or know someone who might be, the following number is the main number for Umass Medical Center (Transplant team)
508-334-1269 option #4 (living donation), Indicate that you are calling on behalf of Joshua Mason. They will ask you a few medical questions and call you back to schedule blood work...
Josh’s blood type is O-  so any type O can donate. In the event your blood type is not an O you might consider donating to the paired donor program which can put him at the top of the list. The transplant team can detail all of the options when you speak to them.
Additionally, we will be holding a fundraising gala / silent auction on the evening of November 2, 2024 6-10pm at
Owen O’learys in Southborough Ma. Please consider joining us for a beautiful event for these two warriors.
Thank you for taking the time to read, follow and help Kelly and Josh.
Much love,
The Friends of the Mason Family
