"Willa Justice: Drag Queen Private Eye" (2024) is a feature film (based on the short of the same name) written and directed by Jonathan Andre Culliton. The short's festival run includes Out on Film, Fishnets & Film, 29 Queer Film Festival, Baby Teeth Film Festival, Stamped Film Festival, Utah Queer Film Festival, Indianapolous Film Festival and Silicon Valley Queer Film Festival. Now, with the help of director of photography Brook Lee Karner, production designer Evan Black, and our tireless producer team, we are working hard to bring Willa's full feature adventure to YOU!
Just like the short, this film is primarily shot in the rural desert community of Twentynine Palms. We invite the community to support and get involved in the film. There are all kinds of opportunities! Please don't hesitate to reach out.
One night, at the Out There Bar in Twentynine Palms, California, Willa Justice (Lady Chilane) is busy drowning her troubles in her favorite drink and getting lost in the memories of her dead boyfriend Jamie Bondopolous (Scott Turner Schofield). Her reminiscing is interrupted suddenly by the gruesome murder of a vacationing straight couple. Thankfully, Willa is the world’s greatest private investigator… and she’s doing it all in drag! Willa pursues the clues left by the Pink Mob deep into the desert where the ghost of Jamie sends a trustworthy chicken, Doctor Eggs, to guide Willa straight to the killer.
When Willa arrives, she realizes where Doctor Eggs has brought her: Jamie’s desert home where they shared their brief-but-intense romance before his tragic spy-related death! Willa pursues a mysterious man around the property until she realizes it IS Jamie and the two reunite in an epic kiss. Back together again, the two exchange their minimal clues, then fall immediately into their enemy’s trap.
Pink Face (Heather Muriel Nguyen), a creepy pink-masked, pink-suited villain, and their goons attack. Willa and Jamie kill them with ease and arrest Pink Face, unmasking them as the bartender working on the night of the murder. Pink Face tells Willa that the war against the Straights has just begun. With one grenade pull, Pink Face disappears in a cloud of pink smoke.
Willa decides to go undercover and infiltrates the Pink Mob. Will she get in too deep? Will Willa Justice be tempted to turn pink? Watch! - as Willa picks a side in Willa Justice: Drag Queen Private Eye.
